On 20 April 2013 PSNEA celebrated "Norway Day" in Olympia WA. We had a wonderful time answering many questions about the national dog of Norway. CLICK HERE and scroll down for photos.

Our 2013 Hillsboro Oregon PSNEA "Pot Luck Picnic and Rescue Parade" will be held on Saturday June 15th in conjuction with the Cascade Hound Show at The Washington County Fairgrounds. All Elkhound families and anyone who loves our breed are encouraged to attend. It's always a huge success as can be seen by last years pictures CLICK HERE and scroll down. Our 2013 Specialty will be held on Friday, 15 Aug in conjunction with the Olympic Kennel Club All Breed Dog Show at the Enumclaw Expo Center, Enumclaw WA. Stay tuned for more information.

On 7 September 2013 PSNEA is scheduled to participate in the "All About Dogs" display held at the Puyallup Fair. Watch this web site for more information.

Welcome to the The Puget Sound Norwegian Elkhound Association (PSNEA).

We are in our 63rd year as a dog club devoted to the Elkhound "fancy." What a legacy the pioneers of this club began when they decided to join forces to promote and enjoy this great gray dog of Norway.

Throughout the Pacific Northwest, and the world for that matter, breeders, show families and pet owners have enjoyed the work, devotion, sweat, and tears that have made these dogs so very special to us. Pacific Northwest Kennel names are recognized everywhere.

Every August we hold our Breed Specialty in conjunction with the Olympic Kennel Club All Breed Dog Show at the Enumclaw Expo Center, Enumclaw WA. This is the major event for our club; it brings all of our members together for some spirited competition and time to catch up on old and new business. During this four day event we host a fund raising "Eye Clinic", BBQ and a Raffle for our competitors and their families.

The two day "Eye Clinic" conducted by Paul Sherlie, DVM, Clackamas OR is open to all dogs.

PSNEA maintains a nation wide rescue program for the Norwegian Elkhound. As a club we are very active in re-homing Elkhounds who have lost their original homes for whatever reason. Our rescue program is funded by our "Eye Clinic" and many wonderful donations.

Congratulations Rita Munson. The Norwegian Elkhound Association of American awarded PSNEA member Rita Munson the 2012 AKC Outstanding Sportsmanship Award. In the American Kennel Club’s ongoing efforts to recognize and celebrate its volunteer club members, The AKC Outstanding Sportsmanship Award program was established in 2006 to provide each member club with an AKC Medallion to award to one of its own on a yearly basis. This award honors those individuals who deserve special recognition that have made a difference in the sport of purebred dogs, embodied the AKC Code of Sportsmanship, and have been an active and valued member of an AKC member club.

Congratulations to all of the winners at the 2012 Specialty. Competition was close this year with a lot of new winners. CLICK HERE to see the results of our 2012 Specialty. We want to thank all of the competitors for their support, especially those who traveled great distances to compete. Once again the BBQ and Raffel we host after our Specialty was a huge success. Thanks to everyone who helped especially our head chef’s GJ and Ron. PSNEA is looking forward to seeing all of our friends and competitors at our 2013 Specialty.
